You dont get the point, this isnt up for debate, the issue is black and white, a system that makes you work for some sort of prize will allow you to get that prize after the work is done. That was the deal. Anet gave us 0 time to redeem our tokens. When the work is done (griding quests, farming, racing) you should have some time to redeem your tokens. There was no time to remeed the tokens after the festivities ended. 0 Iwas racing until the last second, and after i won my tokens i went to redeem them and I couldnt. ?? doesnt make any sense

FFS, There better be an "extra" event next week. Or just bring back the NPC'S for another week, so people can actually trade in there recently accumulated stacks...

Why do you guys lack any form of common sense? (Why remove NPC'S for rewards? There is mayby people that still get lunar tokens few minutes before event ends...)
If you can read you should know the rules of the event, if you read them and ignored them sorry to say, tough s***.

Look, I get you guys point, Anet gives a date, but WHY does it have to be the same day the event ends? Common sense tells us that NOT everyone will be able to make a deadline so soon after the ending... A week bufferzone is just better :s
They set the rules, it is up to you to know how to follow them.

So.... I completed the quests as my bf was on (diff computer, same room) by afking cause I had to go to bed early for work this morning... Now my festival quests say completed, but there's no collector... I do realize that we were told could have done them earlier blah di dah. I don't care so don't tell me. I got up for work and didn't think to collect my rewards. When I got home from work, I was still in Shing Jea where my bf dropped me before logging out... My account notified me of the fact that I'd been playing for 3 days and needed to take a break and I noticed no new builds of Guild wars... My screensaver has a password to log back in that my bf doesn't know, so I couldn't have mapped at all since he dropped me there last night... How are the NPC's gone without me mapping? Shouldn't they still be there for me to get my reward if my account was still logged in? And in the same zone? My next question is, can I still collect my reward next year then if no other time? And will there be a trader for mini pigs again? Cause I would really like to trade them in... I didn't get my last one's until just before I went to bed and I'd planned on getting back on to collect rewards and all that before work this morning, but like I said, I didn't think of it... So can I still get my celestial piggie somehow? Cause now I have 6 worthless regular pigs again... And as much as I love them, I don't want 6 sitting in my inventory for eternity... Just one happy regular piggie is enough for me...

Since you can play the games right up until the end of the event,
then the NPC's should be there so you can turn in those rewards.
If you remove the NPC's, then the rewards you received are worthless.
If Anet wants the event to end at 12pm then maybe the games should
end an hour or two before that.
If you now there is a time limit, you have to have the common sense to know how long it will take to do what you have to before the event ends.

No. You had an entire weekend to redeem your tokens. YOU and you alone gave yourself 0 time to redeem.

Quit shifting blame.

Yeah it's like at wintersday, candy canes were still dropping. I got like 5 tokens drops, looked a bit around for some npcs and i was like - luls they removed them eh. But i did have the initiative of selling them off yesterday. However i could have been racing in rollerbeetle like some and be stuck with tokens, but i raced all weekend so i just did about 10 races, sold them off and i was done.

They said they would be gone. All you had to do was turn them in last night or this morning. You were being greedy and wanted to get just a few more.

I think some guys simply don't get hte point in this thread.

I'm NOT crying about the fact that Anet didn't tell when it was going to end.
I'm NOT crying because I didn't get ANY chance of trading in my tokens.

I DO find it redicilous that the NPC's gets removed upon ending of Festival.
People who claimed the Festival ended like 12 hours before the removal of NPC'S are simply ignorant. Anet clearly states the FESTIVAL ends at Monday (Time)...

However, FOR the people that quickly finished a quest, people who were in a long rollerbeetle run (1 Hour for me) couldn't trade in their tokens (Which in my case is 2 full stacks + few).

WHY do they remove the trader NPC'S? WHY can't they simply stay another week? I'm NOT asking for Anet to add code, I'm NOT asking for Anet to give me another chance on more Tokens. I simply want a chance (and to give other people a chance aswell) to trade in their tokens now, rather than having to wait a FULL YEAR...

But then why does Anet allow people to earn something and then not let them turn them in?
It is like a store owner closing the store at 5pm and kicking everyone out, while saying, thanks for coming, but I can't let you buy the things you have already picked up.
Every store I have ever been in or worked for gives their customers in the store time to pay for the goods.

And on a side note, I did not get stuck with anything from the event. I only said that I felt for the OP.

I have a great idea!

Let's have every single festival NPC that ever existed reinstated into the game, permanently! Wintersday, Halloween, New Year et al! All in one place, in the main centres! Clumping together! Get what you want, when you want!

Then sit back and wait for the QQing about how nothing is special anymore. Because there's always something.

If they cared about what's going on anymore, they would leave the sort of grace periods they used to, but it's obvious they don't give a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO.

The store closes at 10 oclock and I need to get something, but I am too busy. I can't break away from what I am doing to get there. I think they should keep the store open later so when I decide I can go it will be open for me. Think that will happen? Learn some responsibility to get where you have to be before said place closes.

I am pretty sure that I said "like kicking them out", which means they were already there.

Nah, it would make more sense to have festival items only redeemed during festivals.

It would also make sense if redeeming prizes through NPC's would last longer than the ability to win those prizes(festival events/drops) and not the other way around. Simple stuff.

Firstly, I’d like to comment on how I really appreciate that Anet told us when the NPCs would leave this time. Nevertheless, after already getting stuck with candy cane shards, I treated all Lunar Tokens as hot potatoes and traded them in immediately.

Still, a long time ago, Anet did leave NPCs for a week to collect the festival rewards. Everyone was happy with that and as far as I know, no one complained about the NPCs leaving after a week. Therefore, I really have no idea why they don’t continue that practice and would actually prefer having a bunch of upset fans rather than keep the reward NPCs longer. In trying to make sense of this, here are some mere guesses that I can offer for reasons. Maybe someone else has more incite to this.

1) Anet is busy making GWs 2 and it is easier just to remove the NPCs along with the other festival stuff.

2) There was some problem in the past with having the NPCs stay longer, such as the market became flooded with too many of the rewards and now they are banking on people missing out.

3) They want people to think about how full their storage is so that they purchase another character slot on which to store everything.

These are just a few possibilities and of course, I could be completely wrong on all counts. On the other hand, it could be all of the above.

Overall, I am glad that they told us when the NPCs would leave. However, I really did prefer the old way of keeping the reward guys for another week. It just made everyone happier overall.

It happened once, Winterday 2006, so that those affected by the Taiwanese earthquake could have an opportunity to play.

Once, and only once, for special circumstances.
